Ground Broken for New Police Department Tactical Training Facility

On Thursday, February 18th, Foundation Board members joined Mayor Eric Jablin, the City Council, Police Chief Stephen Stepp and numerous residents and business owners as they broke ground for the City of Palm Beach Gardens' new Police Tactical Training Facility.

The new facility, to be built by Sisca Construction Svcs. of West Palm Beach, will provide space for the City’s police officers to receive specialized and ongoing training for situational awareness and to further develop quality decision making while under stressful conditions. The training will comprehensively address officer response, from classroom lecture to simulated, multi-faceted scenarios encountered by officers.

The approximately 9,000 square foot building, located at the Northwest portion of the City’s municipal complex, will repeat the architectural theme already established by City Hall. Included in the building are areas for training apparatus storage, driving simulation, live-fire exercises, and defensive less-lethal tactics. The Facility’s aim is to increase the safety of both the public and our police officers and reduce liability in high risk/low frequency situations requiring split-second decisions, such as pursuit driving and responding to physical resistance.

The Palm Beach Gardens Police Foundation looks forward to helping ensure that the facility has all the Equipment and Technology needed to Train our Police Officers and to keep them safe.
