Editor's note

Pitched battles have been fought over the right to privacy when it comes to what information the NHS holds about you. And you're probably very familiar with the right to doctor-patient confidentiality. But what if you heard the NHS was being urged to share information with the Home Office about patients it could then go on to deport? Jessica Potter says this not only calls for doctors to go against deeply held principles, but also puts everyone's health at risk. If someone thinks they'll get the wrong kind of follow up for reporting ill health, they're less likely to do it.

Murder is a crime that would come as a shock to most. So why has the death of a young woman in Iceland caused particular concern? Francis Pakes and Helgi Gunnlaugsson write that in a country where bitter winters and tight-knit communities provide the perfect backdrop to Nordic noir, the truth is Icelandic society is far more egalitarian and peaceful than fiction would have it.

Bad weather in parts of Spain has been blamed for the fact that some fresh vegetables, such as iceberg lettuce, courgettes and broccoli, have temporarily disappeared from supermarket shelves. But, writes Lisa Jack, when we take into account the fragile supply chain that lets us eat such a wide variety of produce out of season it's surprising there aren't more of these shortages.

All the best.
