30th anniversary logo

Throughout our 30th anniversary year, we have reflected on our many programs and partnerships since the foundation began grant making in 1985. As the year comes to a close, we would like to sincerely thank all of the people and organizations we have worked with through the years in our collective efforts to promote health and well-being in our communities. We look forward to many more years of partnership. #SHF30Years

Office of Health Equity seeks public input

Portrait of Promise cover

The California Department of Public Health’s Office of Health Equity used an inclusive public stakeholder process during the development of its Portrait of Promise: The California Statewide Plan to Promote Health and Mental Health Equity. The Office of Health Equity is now reaching out again to ensure stakeholders are meaningfully involved in implementation of the plan. The vision is that each of the plan’s goals will have its own mini think tank, comprised of Office of Health Equity and other governmental staff, advisory committee members and members of the public, including those who represent organizations and institutions, as well as individuals.

The Office of Health Equity has developed a brief survey for members of the public to indicate their familiarity with the Office of Health Equity, the value they perceive in key initiatives, and their interest in serving as a partner or advisor on one or more implementation goals.

Copies of the plan will be distributed to members of the public who attend the upcoming quarterly Office of Health Equity Advisory Committee meeting, to be held at Sierra Health Foundation on Feb. 9. The public is encouraged to attend or call in to this meeting. Planning is currently under way. For more information, including the agenda and meeting materials, visit the Office of Health Equity web site within 10 days of the meeting.

The Respite Partnership Collaborative supports projects to increase local respite care options for consumers, family members and caregivers experiencing mental health crisis. Since 2013, 11 respite programs have been funded and have provided an alternative to receiving care in hospital emergency departments for more than 5,000 Sacramentans. A new video series will document each of the Respite Partnership Collaborative grantee organizations and the impact their mental health respite services have had.

The first video completed is about TLCS Crisis Respite Center and highlights voices from staff, management and respite clients. Watch the video on YouTube.

The Respite Partnership Collaborative is a public-private partnership of the County of Sacramento, Division of Behavioral Health Services, the Center for Health Program Management and community members who serve as members on the RPC. The RPC is a Sacramento County Mental Health Services Act Innovation Project, funded by the County of Sacramento, Division of Behavioral Health Services through the voter-approved Proposition 63, Mental Health Services Act (MHSA).
