 Trick or Treat?
October is here, already!? Meaning that it’s officially acceptable to relentlessly moan about the weather, but at least we can keep spirits high with the impending spookiest day of the year to look forward to.
And I hope that you’ll be out with witches hats and scary masks in tow. I know I’ll be fuelling my inner child and piling on the creepy clobber this Halloween in order to be rewarded with bucket loads of tasty treats.
To help inspire you, we’ve pulled together some of Halloween must-haves in order for you to throw the ghostliest gathering of all. Just because autumn’s here does not mean that we have to lock ourselves away, there’s a host of great events on locally to you. So whatever you choose to do this October have fun.

Fancy visiting the spooky Halloween Grotto at Birdworld? Walk through the creepy corridors if you're feeling brave enough with the spooky trail where you may even spot a witch or two. There's some fun but creepy arts and crafts too - a great family day out!

The Ripley Bonfire is one of the best supported bonfire events in the South East, it attracts up to 15,000 people. As well as the bonfire and spectacular firework display there is an extensive funfair, food stalls, a bar which has a perfect view of the bonfire and fireworks with live music. Don’t miss the torchlit procession, led by the Ripley Bonfire Queen, which leaves the village hall and make its way to the green at around 7.10pm. The bonfire will be lit around 7.30pm and the sky will be ablaze with fireworks at 8pm.

Admission: £7 per latern, safety LED lights can be purchased for £3 if ordered in advance.
A very popular event which will light up the darker days that autumn brings! Make a colourful lantern from willow and tissue, a great opportunity to get creative. Under 8s will decorate a simple, ready-made frame whilst older children will make their own frame. Children must be accompanied.

 It's Space Week
That's right, it's World Space Week (October 4-10 annually) an international celebration of science and technology. Little ones (and not so little!) love the magic of space and we adore this print available from Bublington.
