Upcoming Week

Literacy: Students will complete reading groups. Students will apply rules for reading long vowels. Students will learn the blends: Sk, Fl, Scr, spr, and str. Students will write nonfiction and fictional stories using the 5 finger method of writing.
Math: students will review the parts of a calendar., the months, and seasons in a year.
Bible: Students will learn about the story of the mustard seed in Mark 4
Science/SS: Students will learn the parts of a plant and the things a plant needs to grow
Unit of Study: plants
New Sight Words: Jump, yellow
Bible Verse: “The kingdom of God is like a mustard seed, the smallest seed you plant in the ground. But when planted, this seed grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants.” Mark 4:31-32

May 11th: Field Day and Slip and Slide Day
May 12th: Field Trip to Springdale Campus for the 5th Grade Musical
May 12th: May Show and Tell- free choice
May 19th: No School
May 24th: Last Day of School; Awards Program at 8:15. students dismissed after program

On Tuesday, our class will be visiting the Young Chef’s Academy in Rogers from 10:00-11:30. We will eat lunch outside after from 11:30-12:15.
Students need to wear their purple field trip shirt and bring a sack lunch. Please make sure the sack lunch includes a drink. If you would like to join us, please let me know.
Field Day is Thursday, May 11. We will start off the events with a school wide cookout! Coach Beers will be grilling up some hotdogs for all the students! If you would be willing to volunteer to help set up or tear down our cookout, please let me know.
After the cookout, students will participate in our field day events and will end the day with a huge slip and slide. Students will be getting wet. If your child will attend extended care, they MUST have a change of clothes.
On May 12, we will be taking a mini field trip to the Springdale Campus to see the 5th grade musical. Students will need to wear their purple field trip
The last Day of school is May 24th. We will have an awards ceremony in the Cross Church Worship Center at 8:15. Students are dismissed after the program.
