What Have We Been Up To Lately?

Quadro Design is still in the throes of completing a number of fully detailed 3D models and drawings of the small bore (3/8” to 1”) instrument tubing, and associated brackets, on a variety of Subsea Manifolds being manufactured for both the Gorgon and Balnaves oil fields.

By modelling these systems BEFORE the work is carried out, allows all parties to view, comment & sign-off on the proposed layout—rather than modifying it later for operator interference or ease of manufacture.

The Steel Detailer (TSD) Update

Michael and his TSD team have been flat-out for the last couple of months, adding new functionality, creating a comprehensive set of help files, preparing for and implementing multiple language operation & support, creating a pictorial index for the supplied library, plus preparing for our ‘Gold Partner’ submission later this month.

Some of the new or improved TSD functionality includes:

  • A network version of TSD is now available for larger offices.
  • Better library management – allowing updates to the supplied TSD library, whilst leaving the users own library intact.
  • Integrated TSD help files, both local & online.
  • Multiple languages – currently compiling Russian & German, with French and Spanish in the near future.
  • Database tools to allow users to work remotely or on laptops and then synchronise both projects and libraries with the office server.
  • DSTV CNV is almost ready for beta testing – this will allow code output for the various members directly to the fabricators beam line.
  • Create new connections on the fly.
  • Member copes in weldments.
  • Match dimensions – for easy modification of multiple items, by changing one, then making all other instances match the first.
  • Global show/hide bolts in projects.
  • Automatic generation of general arrangement drawings, including pre-defined sections, RLs and grid lines.
  • Quote Manager / Price Manager – allows you to assign price per length or mass unit to each member profile, this can then generate a material price for your model.
  • Status Manager to track % complete & status of large projects, by using colours – can also be exported to XML for import into other software.
  • Additional items added to the TSD library, such as ladders, girt wall, purlin roof banks, concrete panels, etc.

Who’s In The Spotlight?

Well Jack finally got out of our hair for a while & took his wife Dawn away on one of those ‘trips of a lifetime’.

They spent six weeks in Europe, travelling through England, Ireland, Belgium & Holland (though typical for Jack, he managed to squeeze in a couple of visits to some SolidWorks resellers in the region, resulting in a couple of them to signing up as TSD resellers).

In addition, Jack & Dawn also managed a weeks cruise around the waters of Scandinavia with their daughter Nicky (who just completed her six month European holiday, and is now back in the office).
