Dear Business Partner,

Autumn at meteocontrol is just as varied as the weather. For the first time we participated in the "All energy Australia" trade fair in Melbourne. At our booth we presented the latest meteocontrol products and conducted live installation demonstrations of our monitoring system. Visitors were also quite impressed by the presentation "Bringing Intelligent Monitoring and Quality Assurance Services to Commercial Projects" given by Martin Schneider, Managing Director of meteocontrol.

The high demand for PV technologies in Great Britain continues unabated. The keen interest in our products shown by current and prospective customers who visited our booth at the "Solar Energy UK" trade fair in Birmingham confirms the strong trend toward solar power. We conducted many constructive discussions with partners and customers, and the information gained from these talks will be used to optimize and expand our range of products and services for international projects.

This October issue of our newsletter also provides you with information about significant new developments for the VCOM virtual control room:

  • Enhancement of the calendar function: "Schedules" portlet
  • Measured value analysis: The practical overview of all measurement points
  • Usability – a constant optimization process

Enhancement of calendar functions: "Calender Items" portlet

The October release of VCOM includes several new calendar functions such as the new "Calender Items" portlet which shows you all upcoming system events that are of relevance to your PV plant. The portlet can be embedded in any page according to user preference. Depending on where the calendar portlet is integrated – at system level or at solar park level – all key dates are displayed for the entire installation or for selected individual PV systems. The recurring schedule dates in a series can also be conveniently modified or deleted.

The calendar in VCOM helps you plan all the events that are important for keeping your PV system up and running efficiently. The new portlet also means that you see all upcoming scheduled dates at a glance without opening the calendar itself!

Measured value analysis: The practical overview of all measurement points

In response to a large number of customer requests, we have implemented a measured value analysis that supports the convenient setting of terms in VCOM. This new table clearly lists the following data for all the measurement points and their calculated values:

  • Designation
  • Abbreviation used
  • Relevant term

Based on the term, other values can be calculated using "copy and paste." What's more, the measured value analysis also displays the time stamp of the last data record.

The new analysis tool gives users the flexibility needed to create any number of calculations. The most important terms can also be created automatically using a simple selection menu. Complete flexibility and easiest configuration – VCOM offers both.

Usability – a constant optimization process

One of our top priorities is to constantly optimize the user friendliness of our products. We have thus included the following improvements in the October release of VCOM:

  • The redesigned footer not only looks good – it also makes for a better overview and simplifies navigation.

  • For the Energy (normalized) diagram, users can now also select the time intervals "Month" and "Year."

  • The download process for VCOM reports is now conducted in two steps: First the report is generated in the background before it is ready for downloading. Generated reports are now available 24 hours for downloading from the new "Report download" section.
