Budget

The Chancellor of the Exchequer gave what was effectively his fourth budget of the year earlier this month. The general consensus seems to be that it was underwhelming in terms of specific sector considerations. Certainly, an important practical outcome was the Government’s decision to protect mandatory charitable business rate relief. There were also specific elements with more relevance to particular types of charity or sub-sections of the sector, including some beneficial tax changes for museums and galleries. The Charity Finance Group (CFG) has produced a good summary paper of the major changes with supporting commentary.

Free Finance for Trustees Training in Bradford

Some early warning for Bradford based organisations! We will be running two free sessions aimed specifically at developing the finance skills and understanding for trustees (not just treasurers!). The planned dates are 7th and 14th June and we anticipate they will run in the early evening. Please note in this case, the training is restricted to Bradford District based organisations big enough to have paid staff due to the nature of the funding supporting it.
Separately, look out also for the ‘Role of the Treasurer’ training we will be running over the summer months. This will also be free.

Last chance to give us your feedback!

Our annual service evaluation survey has been running this month. If you’ve received any of our services in the last year you will have received a hard copy survey form or link to a short electronic survey. If so, we would be very grateful if you could complete this and let us know how we did. We particularly would like know if there is anything you think we could do better or differently. It should only take a couple of minutes. Although the closing date has just passed we can include all responses that are made before the end of the month. Thank you to all those to have given us your views to date!
