Meet Our New PT - Kevin Norris PT, DPT, CSCS
Kevin grew up right here in Bothell, graduating from Bothell High school in 2004. He was a multi-sport athlete, playing football, baseball, lacrosse, and track/field. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Central Washington University in 2009. Upon graduation, he worked as Strength & Conditioning Specialist at TAI Canyon Park PT until attending Physical Therapy school at Samuel Merritt University. He graduated in May 2014 with his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and is excited to be returning home to begin his career.
Kevin treats all musculoskeletal injuries and takes a personal approach to his patient care philosophy. Kevin enjoys working with patients of all ages and takes particular interest in each patient’s “story.” He believes that a complete rehabilitation program must incorporate sound orthopedic clinical reasoning but must also be tailored to include all aspects of a patient’s life for it to be successful and lasting.
In his free time, Kevin enjoys exercising, running with his dog, and playing most sports including golf and lacrosse. He and his wife, Brittany, enjoy many of the outdoor activities the northwest has to offer, including wakeboarding, snowboarding, swimming, hiking, fishing, and camping.

Low Back Pain Revolution - A Better Approach to Treatment
Individuals with low back pain are faced with a variety of treatment options, many of which do not draw upon evidence to support the selected approach. In order to actively manage your physical health, you need to know your options and your rights as a patient and healthcare consumer.
Common practice has been to follow the traditional approach, which typically begins with a primary care physician visit and often follows with several months of physician visits, prescription medication, imaging and steroid injections. This path been shown to be costly with poor outcomes, with many individuals experiencing a recurrence in their pain. On many occasions, the patient is referred to physical therapy months later.
Physical therapists are licensed healthcare doctors for the musculoskeletal system and among the most educated providers in treating individuals with disabilities of the joints, muscles, and nerves. Recent research has concluded that early physical therapy intervention resulted in significant savings for patients who seek physical therapy first instead of following the traditional approach.
Direct Access to Physical Therapy
A common perception is physical therapy care must be referred by a primary care physician before treatment can be scheduled. As licensed medical providers, physical therapists can be accessed directly without a referral or recommendation from your medical doctor (pending insurance verification). This is called Direct Access and is legal in 47 states, including Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
