BOFA DIRECTORS IN POLAND
Festival Director Owen Tilbury and Program Director Helen Tilbury are currently in Poland for the Krakow Film Festival . Krakow Film Festival is one of the oldest events in Europe dedicated to documentary, animated and short feature films. During the eight festival days, guests have a chance to watch about 250 films (from 3,322 submitted) from Poland and from around the world. With BOFA’s strong emphasis on documentary films, it’s a great opportunity to procure the year’s best films to show back in Tasmania in November.

STAR THEATRE REVIVAL
Exciting news that Launceston’s first suburban cinema, the Star Theatre in Invermay, is to be reborn as a cinema. The Star Theatre opened its doors in 1937, but suffered a decline after the introduction of television and closed in 1969. For the last 40 years it has been the home of St Vincent de Paul Charity Shop.
New owners Andrew Quaile, Ben Davis and Paul Lee-Archer say construction on the site will begin in March 2017. The Art Deco cinema will use state of the art audio visual equipment in the building, and incorporate a bar and restaurant, with spaces for live events, conferencing, functions, and dinners for up to 100 people.
BOFA is delighted to welcome a new independent cinema to Launceston.
If you’d like to keep up with progress on the new cinema, go to www.startheatre.com.au or www.facebook.com/startheatrelaunceston/
