Look for the Latest SAM Magazine this week

Inline Image

The fall 2012 issue of SAM will be hitting more than 28,000 mailboxes across Canada and around the world this week.

This issue wraps up the U of L’s 45th year (wasn’t it something!), takes a look ahead to the institution’s future and features stories on students, faculty and alumni.

The artwork on the cover, "Revisions", is by U of L alumna Delia Cross Child (BA '96, BEd '06), who was inducted into the U of L Alumni Honour Society in 2009.

Watch for your copy of SAM on campus later on this week.

Brodrick remains engaged

Inline Image

When Steve Brodrick (BMgt ’09) thinks back on his time as a student at the University of Lethbridge, a myriad of memories emerge – resident student activities, volunteering as a mentor for new students, taking part in the first-ever Fresh Fest – just to name a few.

“I sat on the General Assembly for the Students’ Union and was president of the Organization of Residence Students. I lived in residence the whole time I was a student and had a great experience,” says Brodrick, who is grateful for the opportunities he had to engage with the broader U of L community.

He recognizes that many of those opportunities would not have been available had it not been for the financial support offered through scholarships and bursaries. Read more here.

Chillin' 4 Charity, November 22

You can jump, be pushed or support someone who is taking a plunge for the United Way at the 7th Chillin' for Charity event, which takes place Thursday, Nov. 22  beginning at 11 a.m. on the  south patio of the Students' Union Building.

This year, Dr. Bob Boudreau is the designated victim from the U of L Senior Administration team, while Dr. Rich Perlow takes a dive for Management. Dean Bob Ellis is, surprisingly, out of town that day.

Community Volunteers from the United Way will be joining the students, as well.

The event, a major fundraiser for the JDC West team, will see more than 50 people hit the water, in costume, usually screaming.

To sign up or support a jumper, email Nicole Acheson for additional information.
