Calling all Tennessee Reservists: We need your help!

As the 2105 storm season approaches, it is important that Hope Force International (HFI) make preparation for mounting an effective disaster response as the need arises.   Joey Stoltzfus, HFI Disaster Response Manager, has been working to ensure the readiness of equipment and supplies.  To that end, it is critically important that we engage our Reservists in the process of erecting the Oasis of Hope tent and other operational components.

We’re asking you to come work with us and learn various aspects of the operation.  The goal is to form the Oasis of Hope “A-Team” --  a group of Reservists who are familiar with the process so that when called upon to help, they can do so with confidence.  We’ve found that these tasks are best taught by “doing” -- a concept that has been around for millennia.

“For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them.”  ― Aristotle

Our plan is to take two days to erect the tent, string the lights, set the tables and prepare for a wonderful gathering.   On the third day -- we’ll prepare meals, create a warm ambience and finish with celebration.

We want to invite all HFI Reservists to gather and dine together that Friday evening, including those who were not able to join us earlier in the week.  We will dedicate the Oasis of Hope with worship and prayer for the future.

May 13 & 14: The team will erect the tent, string the lights, set the tables, work on preparation of meals...and have a lot of fun together.

May 15:  Final details, HFI Reservist gathering and dinner, and Oasis of Hope dedication

May 16: Breakdown and storage of Oasis of Hope

We realize that many of you will not be able to participate in the set-up process, but please don’t let that deter you from joining us for the dedication and celebration Friday evening!

(An important P.S. :  There will be some prep work required prior to the two-day tent erection on the 13th and 14th; if you are available, we would love your help!)

Let us know if you can help at any time -- and in any way: info@hopeforce.org
