Energy efficiency project earns $28,620 rebate

Clark Public Utilities has awarded WSU Vancouver a $28,620 incentive payment for Facilities Operation's Exterior Road LED Energy Efficiency Project. Facilities Operations Director James Martin wants to give a special “Way to Go” to Dennis Giles, maintenance mechanic, and Doug Skucas, maintenance mechanic II.

“Dennis and Doug have been instrumental in the research, planning and execution of the LED project for the last academic year,” Martin said. “Their hard work directly contributed to this rebate!”

New I-5 on-ramp
The northbound I-5 on-ramp on NE 134th Street is permanently closed. Northbound drivers wishing to access I-5 will travel north on NE 20th Avenue, turn left on NE 139th Street and merge onto the new on-ramp. You can view the change and a detour map on the project website.

I-205 closures Sept. 23 – 28
Road crews will remove the old ramp to make way for the new bridge. Nighttime drivers will see closures on six consecutive nights while crews complete demolition.

Sept. 23, 24 and 25:
Both directions of I-205 closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Sept. 26 and 27:
Northbound I-205 closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Sept. 28:
Both directions of I-205 closed from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday

October is Disability Awareness Month

Disability Awareness Month

WSU Vancouver will observe Disability Awareness Month in October. Weekly events launch Oct. 1 – 3, with an education campaign on the Quad from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Show your support by wearing a button and find out how to get involved on campus and in the community.

Events include:
Oct. 8, 10:30 a.m. – noon: Film screening, “ADD and Loving It?!,” Multimedia Classroom building, room 6

Oct. 15, 1:30 – 3 p.m.: “Invisible Wounds and the Student Veteran,” panel discussion highlighting the invisible wounds of war, Dengerink Administration building, room 129

Oct. 23 and Oct. 30, 11:10 a.m. – noon: “Perspectives on Disability” student presentations, Multimedia Classroom building, room 22
