Britain is to review the law prohibiting medical cannabis, days after granting an exceptional licence for doctors to treat Billy Caldwell, a 12-year-old boy with life threatening epilepsy. Alex Stevens takes stock of how the law around cannabis evolved in Britain – and says the government now has a chance to create a balance between legal access and market regulation.

An international team of astronomers captured the moment when an exploding star was dragged into the mouth of a supermassive black hole. It is the first time an image of such an event has ever been recorded.
