Graduate Student Opportunities

Department of Geography

The Department of Geography is recruiting graduate students in several areas for specific projects. The application deadline for Fall 2015 admission is May 1, 2015. See the SGS website for details and information about how to apply for these projects.

Projects available:

  • Arctic coastal fog from satellite remote sensing analysis (MSc or PhD)
  • Arctic land-terminating glacier changes and related surface mass balance (PhD or PDF)
  • Short-term Arctic glacier response to fog (MSc)
 

Mitacs Accelerate PhD Fellowship

  • Three-year fellowship valued at $30,000 per year
  • Fellows and faculty apply their expertise to new challenges
  • Long-term research project with a non-academic partner
  • Application deadline: May 6, 2015, at 1 p.m. PDT
  • Results announced: July 2015

Mitacs Elevate Postdoctoral Fellowship

  • Two-year fellowship valued at $57,500 per year (plus $7,500 per year non-cash value in training)
  • Customized training in professional and research management skills

Registration for the Summer 2015 semester is now open and registration for the Fall 2015 semester will be open from Thursday, April 16 at 8:30 am to Tuesday, September 15 at 11:30 pm.

Instructional Skills Workshop

May 4 to 7
Facilitated by Leanne Elias & Wayne Lippa

All Graduate Assistants should plan to attend this four day/28 hour boot camp workshop.

The workshop takes place in a confidential, supportive environment. First developed in British Columbia in the late 1970s, the ISW is now used at universities and colleges across Canada as an important component of their faculty development programs. More

 
 

Light on Teaching Magazine call for submissions

The Teaching Centre invites all faculty, instructors and graduate students to submit articles for publication to its annual publication A Light on Teaching.
