THE CLIENT

Glass Butter Beach is a UK action sports and music festival like no other...

Established in 2011 by Mark Durston, the founder of the legendary Wakestock festival and Syndicate Wakeboard Magazine, GBB boasts a plethora of hardcore action sports and pumping parties, all to the soundtrack of some of the UK's hottest live bands.

The event site in Llanbedrog, near Abersoch in North Wales makes for the perfect location to showcase the most contemporary action sports competition, from surfing, SUP, and wakeboarding to skateboarding, BMX, and beach volleyball. As well as a selection of well stocked beach bars, the event also plays host to no less than 3 music stages including an open air main stage overlooking St Tudwal’s islands.

With the phenomenal success of the 2011 launch event, GBB 2012 looks set to be one hell of a party!

THE CHALLENGE

Glass Butter Beach approached Brandwave with a clear and straightforward design brief. They wanted to create a unique visual identity for the festival, reminiscent of the classic 60's surf movie 'The Endless Summer'.

The client also wanted to create an identity that reflected the musical element of the event, and appealed to their target markets within contemporary youth culture.

The challenge to Brandwave was to develop a new brand identity and graphical template that could be easily be applied to a broad range of marketing deliverables.

THE RESULT

The Brandwave team developed a unique Glass Butter Beach brand identity as well as bespoke graphical templates, key colours, and fonts. The identity was rolled out across a broad range of marketing deliverables including brochures, websites, POS, and advertising.

Attendees of the 2011 launch event also received an exclusive 'Butter Card' entitling them to 15% price discount on future events. Glass Butter Beach 2012 is scheduled to take place from Friday 17th to Saturday 18th August. Early Bird tickets have already sold out.

Official ticket sales begin on April 2nd.
