Strike to go ahead! No images? Click here ![]() ![]() Above: 3 September strike day, Tauranga PHC MECA Update 4 November 2020 Stop press! We will be not be proceeding to negotiations tomorrow as there is not yet a tangible offer to discuss. Therefore the strike will definitely be proceeding on Monday. As we understand it discussions with funding stakeholders are continuing, and of course we now have a new Minister of Health to bring up to speed. However, we need to keep the pressure on for this to be urgently prioritised – it is not good enough that our members have to sacrifice pay. We will also serve the strike notices for the 24 hour strike on 23 November on 6 November providing another two week window to attain a resolution and hopefully avoid this action. Now we have confirmed that we are not meeting tomorrow we continue with haste on our arrangements for Monday's activities. Details on these activities and the resources will be out to you tomorrow. A number of gatherings/rallies have already been confirmed and, as indicated, we will be inviting other NZNO members, members of other unions and your whānau and friends to join us in the planned activities. Lets all ensure we spread the word and make these gatherings as visible as possible! FAQs about how the strike day should be managed, what this means for normal hours of work and who can strike will be also be sent through. Media We will be doing media tomorrow focusing on our significant frustration and disappointment with not being able to meet tomorrow and will call for the new Minister to act urgently! I will be back in touch tomorrow. Ngā mihi, Chris Wilson |
