Can you tell us a little bit about your experience and the work you do?
I've worked in a variety of startups, mostly in the finance and crypto currency industries. I've been helping Succession Link grow for about 4 years now. The company has grown tremendously and the software has been growing with it.
One problem that became undeniable is customers complaining that they didn't receive a verification email, or a payment receipt. It got to the point where we couldn't put off the issue any longer. We tried different solutions such as changing the sending name or the sending domain, but switching to Postmark almost completely solved the problem for us.
How are you using Postmark on Succession Link today?
We primarily use outbound with plans of incorporating inbound in the coming months. We very much rely on the open and click tracking. The open and click tracking are incorporated into our platforms scoring algorithms. This helps us identify content this is of most interest to our members.
If you could add one feature to Postmark, what would it be?
I am not a huge fan of Mustachio or Mustache. But that is mostly because we were coming from a bunch of templates written using Mailchimp or Mandrill-style templating. It was a little bit of a hassle to switch some conditionals in our existing templates to the "logic-less" style. So, support of another template language would be great.
Ed. note: we're planning a bunch of improvements to Templates over the coming months. Stay tuned!
If you could give fellow developers one piece of advice about how to implement and manage their transactional email, what would it be?
I did not treat transactional email as importantly as I should have. Over time as the company grew, so did our issues with transactional email. Now, I have weekly and daily reports (in additional to DMARC reports) to be sure our customers are happy and receiving their emails. Transactional email should be treated like any other service in your stack. Monitor it. It will make your life easier in the long run.
