Cycle Fits

We don’t mean are you in shape, we mean have you ever been fit to your bike?

For many physical activities, the more we do them and practice them, the more efficient we can become for the task required. These may include running, tennis, rock climbing, among many other sports that we partake.

With cycling, we are locked into a specific position via our shoe/cleat position, saddle and seat post position as well as the handlebar and stem position. At this point in our summer, many of you have logged a lot of miles on your bicycles. Cycling is a highly repetitive sport with thousands if not millions of crank revolutions over many years of riding. If a bicycle is not set up appropriately for a person’s particular anatomy, then a "perfect storm" of improper, repetitive stresses can lead to a myriad of injuries.

Knee pain is one of the more common problems, as foot/shoe alignment, saddle height and fore/aft position can dramatically affect the forces through the lower extremities. Common complaints are anterior (front of the knee or knee cap) knee pain, which can often be blamed on a saddle too low and/or too far forward. Posterior (back of the knee) and/or lateral (outside) knee pain is often caused by a saddle that is too high and/or too far back. These are all generalizations, but a good place to start.

Other complaints with cycling include: back and neck pain, hand, foot and perineal numbness, as well as other potential issues. A proper bike fit includes a thorough physical examination before ever even getting on the bike. This is because the 'intrinsic' findings, i.e. physical measures, past medical history, etc. are as important as the 'extrinsic' findings, i.e. bike set up, cycling history, training schedule, etc.

At Therapeutic Associates at the Athletic Club, we offer Cycle Fits that will allow you to achieve maximum performance, ideal comfort and injury prevention for all the cycling that you do.

Please call the office at (541) 382-7890 for more information and/or to schedule your custom Cycle Fit today.

Summit High School Booster Club

Proud SILVER Sponsors!

Who are the Boosters?

We are the Boosters! We are the parents and supporters of Summit High School in Bend, Oregon. If you have a student at Summit, are on staff at SHS, or have been a student at SHS, consider yourself a Booster.

The Booster Mission:

To support the arts, athletics, activities and clubs at Summit High School, in pursuit of a full and enriching academic experience for every student.

Why Boosters?

Helping Summit students reach new heights is what we are all about. We are the equivalent of the PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) for SHS. The Booster Club is how parents plug in and help out. We work with the faculty and students to make Summit the best it can be.

What do the Boosters do?

First, we recruit and organize volunteers to help with a variety of activities, from running concession stands to proctoring tests. As a registered Booster supporter, you will be kept informed of the many opportunities and options that allow each of us to get involved in our own way.

Second, we raise funds to support our students' education at Summit High School. The funds raised go directly back into the school to benefit classroom needs, arts programs, clubs and activities, and athletic teams. We manage an array of fundraising programs -- and because we are a non-profit organization, most donations (financial, in-kind, etc.) are tax-deductible.

We are an active, vital organization that meets monthly to determine how we can help build a stronger school community.
