  Dealing with your banker

Welcome to the April 2012 edition of the Business Insider.

You’ll be glad to know that dealing with your banker doesn’t have to be a nerve-racking experience. Richard McKnight from PwC has provided us with some practical tips for forging positive relationships with your banker in times of economic uncertainty – it’s all about two-way communication and trust.

Did you know employment agreements are mandatory for all employees? The Department of Labour takes us on a tour of their successful employment agreement builder tool. Quigg Partners continue the theme by providing an analysis on the Ports of Auckland dispute and the use of collective agreements.

Got a great business idea that you want to turn into a successful enterprise? Or does your existing business have growth potential? Business.govt.nz is launching the second ANZ Flying Start Business Plan competition on 22 May 2012. The business plan competition is aimed at start-up businesses and small to medium-sized enterprises nationwide, with 16 regional cash prizes and a grand prize package worth over $55,000 consisting of cash, marketing and advertising packages and training and development.

Finally, the Department of Labour is seeking submissions from businesses about a new draft policy statement around safe management of hazardous material in the workplace. Have your say before 21 May 2012.
