Finding your perfect role: Top tips from our design team

Be open to new ideas. Your skills are transferrable and there will also be extra training that can be considered. Sometimes you need to take a side step to take three steps up.

Be realistic. Be honest with agencies and your employer about exactly what it is you want from your next career move. If it’s a salary increase you are after ask your current employer for a pay review first.

Don’t just look at the headline salary. Does the company offer a bonus or other benefits such as pensions, generous holiday allowance, flexible working – in the office or at home?

Stand out from the crowd. Provide examples of your work with your CV.

Proof read. It might seem obvious but you’d be surprised. Re-read and correct any typos or grammatical errors.

Be available. If you absolutely can’t answer straight away always get back to your recruitment consultant as soon as possible. Act efficiently, and be readily available for interviews, you don’t want to miss out on that job!

Be determined and positive. Sometimes it can take time to match you with the perfect job. The needs of not only yourself but that of your potential employer need to be met. Your skills will be transferrable and no industry stands still, so be prepared to adapt and be open to new opportunities. You never know where it might take you.
