CPC Kicks Off 365 Day Countdown to Census 2020CPC staff and volunteers joined coalition partners APA VOICE and NYCOUNTS 2020 to kick off the Census Day of Action on April 1st, the one year countdown to Census 2020. The day’s activities included flyering and postering at local businesses and transit stops in Flushing and Sunset Park to raise Census awareness and two press conferences to share knowledge of the importance of the Census in determining congressional representation as well as funding for public resources. How to Respond to Summonses from NYC Enforcement AgenciesOn March 8th, 2019 CPC joined the NYC Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH), Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, Ian Chan from CM Margaret Chin’s office, Chinatown Partnership, ISS, and Hamilton-Madison House to announce a community event and Q&A session to discuss ways small businesses can respond to summonses from NYC Enforcement Services. Gov. Cuomo Announces Additional Services to Assist ImmigrantsOn March 14th, 2019, NY Governor Cuomo announced additional services to help immigrants, including legal and naturalization assistance through the Rapid Response Program and New Opportunity Centers. Learn and Earn Program Visits Colgate University, RIT, and SUNY Binghamton In February, the Manhattan Learn and Earn Program traveled upstate for an overnight college visit. Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in NY Visits Senior Centers Throughout the month of March, representatives from the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in NY came to Nan Shan Senior Center and Open Door Senior Center to share information and resources for seniors who have emigrated to the US. Learn and Earn Program Youth Cook with Parents During 2nd Annual Parent Engagement Night On March 22nd, the Manhattan Learn and Earn Program hosted its 2nd Annual Parent Engagement Night at the Hong Ning Housing for the Elderly's kitchen space.
