New online learning module for secondary schools


The first three online learning modules for schools using the MindMatters framework have been launched this week:

  • What is mental health?
  • Adolescent development
  • Relationships and belonging

The modules are part of a suite of professional learning resources that support secondary schools to strengthen their students’ mental health and wellbeing. MindMatters schools can also access on the ground support from our state and territory staff members.

Introducing the KidsMatter Primary Portal - the new online resource


For the first time, schools in the KidsMatter Primary network can access professional learning online using the KidsMatter Primary Portal.

The Portal has been designed to enhance schools’ implementation of KidsMatter Primary and will allow schools to tailor learning to suit their own needs, context and pace. Face to face events and support are also available to guide schools’ work in strengthening student wellbeing.

Surveys for school leaders


Australian Principal Health & Wellbeing Survey

Take part in this survey about the impact of workloads on the health and wellbeing of school leaders. This is the fourth year of a longitudinal study of the occupational health, safety and wellbeing school leaders. Previous participants are encouraged to participate again using their personal email link. The survey closes at the end of September.

UNESCO survey about the development of 21st century skills

The UNESCO Education Research Institutes Network (ERI-Net) is conducting a survey for principals and school staff across the Asia-Pacific region about the development of 21st century skills such as critical and innovative thinking, inter-personal skills, intra-personal skills and global citizenship.

Senior Secondary Languages Education Research

As part of the Australian Government’s ‘Strengthening the Australian Curriculum’ initiative, the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) is conducting research on the teaching of languages in secondary schools. Participation is voluntary and individuals or schools will not be named or identified in the final written report. The survey takes around 15-20 minutes to finish.

The annual Principals Australia Institute's John Laing Professional Development Awards are a peer-nominated celebration of school leadership and professional learning.
