IVD and Medical Device Regulations

The draft IVD and Medical Device Regulations are currently undergoing a legal-linguist review; this is a normal part of the final stage of the legislative process where the text is ‘cleaned up’ to remove typos and inconsistencies. Once a ‘cleaned up’ version of the text is agreed, all language versions of the will be updated. Final ‘legal’ Council and European Parliament votes will take place following an agreement on the updated text. Therefore publication of the IVD and Medical Device Regulations are expected in Q1/Q2 of 2017.

EDMA and Eucomed continue to follow the process to formally adopt the regulations at the same time as we prepare for the next phase – Implementation – and develop a ‘Best Practice Implementation’ programme for members and non-members.

MedTech Europe Code of Ethical Business Practice

The Medtech Europe Legal and Compliance groups have recently finalised additional guidance on the MedTech Europe Code of Ethical Business Practice, in particular on the MedTech Europe disclosure system, the dispute resolution system and new Q&As on different chapters of the Code. This new guidance will be integrated in a single document with the Code, and will be published in the coming weeks.
