Announcing CareerLAB’s New Podcast Talk It Out!

We know the internship, job, and career search at Brown can be daunting. And sometimes it can be scary to express your worries or ask your questions out loud. So we asked undergraduate alumnae/i, Flo Schalliol, Kimberley Charles, Andrew Kaplan, Grace Miller, Lucinda Flowers, Ari Rubenstein, and Rachel Black to reflect back on their experiences hunting for jobs and to talk about the fears and pressures they felt.

Listen to our first podcast here!

If what they talk about sounds familiar to you, we want to hear from you. Share your questions and worries and Brown alumnae/i and our CareerLAB staff will respond to your questions in future podcasts scheduled for later this spring.

Submit questions about your internship/job/career search for upcoming podcasts!

How Practicing Mock Interviews Can Help You Prepare

At CareerLAB, we see a lot of resumes, edit a lot of cover letters, and frequently field questions about networking. But one thing that students request less often are mock interviews. This is understandable since asking for feedback on something written might feel less daunting than asking for feedback on your words and behavior. However, practicing your interview chops is extremely helpful in preparing to apply for a job or internship.

Read one student's first-hand account of Mock Interviewing at CareerLAB.

Undergraduates can schedule a mock interview with a career counselor on Handshake, or walk in for mini-mock with a Peer Career Advisor during walk-in hours at CareerLAB: Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays & Fridays 1:30-3:30 p.m. and Tuesdays & Wednesdays: 7-9 p.m.

Graduate students can also schedule a mock interview with a career counselor on Handshake or email Beverly_Ehrich@brown.edu directly.
