Research Update

Good afternoon,

Linked below is the Domestic Tax Paid Estimate for Septemer 2020.

The September 2020 estimate is 14,800,000 barrels, which is virtually the same as the September 2019 removals of 14,796,000 barrels. For the calendar year, domestic removals are down 1,114,663 barrels, a .9% decrease from 2019.

We also made a mid-term adjustment to the May 2020 estimate.  Based on new data from TTB, the previously reported estimate of 14,216,000 barrels has been revised downward to 13,770,000 barrels. Certain suppliers that do not report their actual data to the Beer Institute but for whom the Beer Institute may provide estimates have filed returns showing declines during May that were greater than expected. Other suppliers have yet to actually file quarterly returns.

The Beer Institute estimates for the remaining months are expected to see continued revisions as TTB Industry Circular 2020-2 has postponed reporting requirements for filing and payment due dates for up to 90 days.

The October 2020 Domestic Tax Paid Estimate is scheduled to be released on November 24, 2020.
