Vulnerability is a word that comes to mind with this performer, his gentle and atmospheric music is set amid intriguing narratives. These ethereal tunes embody lyrical storytelling from monasteries to deserted islands to bustling cities around the globe. KHIN MYINT came onto the Perth songwriting scene with a bang years ago, released two great albums and then promptly disappeared again after knockout performances around the country at folk festivals. Now returning from several years abroad, Khin makes his first Perth appearance in years with tales andsongs from his most recent travels.

After a lifelong career in the arts and graphic design, ROSIE BARTER has come late to the writer's craft. She brings with her avery visual ear. Her short fiction has been broadcast on Radio National, published in indigo 2, 4 & 6 and awarded prizes. Whilst working on a memoir exploring her Greek heritage, poetry arrived on her page. Now she is hooked! Like her living room, Rosie's poetry is eclectic—playful, sensuous, unsettling.

The Old Mill Theatre is staging the world premiere of the latest play from Hollywood writer and director David Stevens this June, best known for The Sum of Us, A Town Like Alice and Breaker Morant.

Described as a “love story re-invented”, The Beast and The Beauty re-works the classic tale of magic and enchantment and sets it in the Australian outback of the late 1880s.

The so-called beast is an ordinary man, horribly disfigured in a bushfire as a baby.

Director Mark DeFriest is bringing the show to life, a veteran of more than 800 hours of television drama in the US and Australia.

His credits include Cop Shop, The Sullivans, Prisoner, The Flying Doctors, Chances, Ocean Girl, Ship To Shore, Streetsmartz and the Doctor Who spin-off K-9, among many others.

The Beast and The Beauty plays at 8pm, June 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, July 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 with 2pm matinees July 1 and 8.

The creators of the international multi-award winning production The Adventures of Alvin Sputnik: Deep Sea Explorer have created another heartfelt adventure. Using puppetry, mask, animation and live performance they deliver a grand epic western about redemption and dementia. As the sun sets, an old man and his noble tent go wandering into the wild. He is losing his mind. Swept up in a surreal world, he is on the run. Meanwhile, a mysterious tracker has caught the scent, and is hell bent on hunting him down. But while he can try and run away from the life he once knew, he can’t hide from everything.
