Olly's zooming around the country over the next few days like FC himself, in Cornwall today then north to Manchester and on the small screen in between!

PADSTOW CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL - Today!

Olly is popping the corks with his buddy and top chef Paul Ainsworth at the wonderful Padstow Christmas Festival. It's the perfect way to get into the Christmas mood so come along and join us for a drink (or 3!) if you happen to be in Cornwall. Olly and Paul will be in the Sharp's Chef Theatre this morning at 10.45am. More info here.

HOT BOTTLES

White: Co-Op Is This it? Pinot Blanc 2018 (12%) £6.50. Peachy and perfect party white for the festive season, this Hungarian refresher is downright delicious!

Red: Tesco Finest Saint-Chinian 2018 (13.5%) £9.00. Great to pair with a winter stew or just as a hearty glass for a bit of personal insulation, this fab red French blend has gorgeous aromas ranging from spice to roses and is as powerful and dark as peering into a potted galaxy.

If you’re looking for gift ideas this Christmas, I have two for you. The first is Mac Forbes Woori Yallock Pinot Noir 2017 (12%) from The Wine Society which is £39 a bottle and before you ask, yes it is worth the price tag. It’s made in small quantities with a gentle hand from the master maker Mac himself and one of the best Pinots I’ve tasted this year - silky and alive with flavour, it’s a revelation of Aussie excellence and a handsome gift for the wine lover in your life.

The second bottle to make someone’s day this festive season is Hermitage Chez Richon 1995 Grande Champagne Cognac which is £97.50 from brandyclassics.com which I know is a bit of a spend but the quality of this liquid is an absolute triumph. Generously textured with a fanfare of sweet dried fruit and spicy richness, there’s a mellow butterscotch melting moment as you sip this cracking Cognac and it’ll warm you from the tops of your toes to the tips of your lips. Magic to give, even more marvellous to share this Christmas!

Merry Christmas!
