Welcome to the July Alumni newsletter

Dear

July is always a favourite month on the calendar at Leeds Trinity University as it's summer graduation. This year was very special as our new Chancellor, Deborah McAndrew, conferred degrees for the first time. Deborah presented to 300 graduands from the School of Arts and Communication and the Institute of Childhood and Education.

This year, the University awarded seven Honorary Fellowships to exceptional individuals in their fields. We are extremely proud as four of these were presented to our alumni. Alumni recipients were journalist Margaret Emsley, businessman Tim Hodgson, author Dorothy Koomson and Professor Kevin Hylton.

Students among most satisfied in Yorkshire

Students at Leeds Trinity are among the most satisfied students in Yorkshire, according to the National Student Survey (NSS) 2018 results released last week.

Leeds Trinity is ranked as second mainstream university in the region behind the University of Leeds and 3% above the national average, with an overall satisfaction score of 87%. The institution is ranked joint 23rd in the UK according to Times Higher Education.

Professor Margaret House, Vice-Chancellor, said: "Having a consistently high level of student satisfaction reflects the exceptional support we continue to provide at Leeds Trinity, and I am incredibly proud of the results.

"I believe we are one of the only universities in the region to be able to maintain such high levels of personalisation and dedication to each of our students, and my colleagues should be very proud.”

Competition time!

To celebrate graduation we're running a summer competition where one lucky winner will be sent a Leeds Trinity merchandise goody bag including bear, scarf, pen set, business card holder and travel mug.

All you have to do is send a graduation photo and caption of no more than 10 words about what made graduation special for you. Email your entry to alumni@leedstrinity.ac.uk before Friday 14 September 2018.

Featured alumni - Kelly Woodward

"Hopefully in five years, I’ll be working at a fashion magazine like Vogue or Cosmopolitan, which would be a dream come true."

Many alumni will remember Kelly who undertook an internship with the Alumni Office in 2016 after completing her English degree. Days after completing her internship she was a student with us again on the MA Journalism programme.

Kelly is currently an Officer Manager for the Tab, which is a site covering youth and student culture. She works with teams in London and New York to grow the readership. Read Kelly's story here.
