Five Tax Breaks You Might Not Know

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using every tax break allowed -- that's why they exist!  Here's our list of some tax breaks that may have missed your radar.

Presidential Elections and the Market Impact

Stock market success boils down to the elementary rule of buying low and selling high.  If you can conquer this simple rule, there is nothing magic about winning in the stock market.

The challenge lies with identifying when these highs and lows will occur.

Read on to see how studies have shown that stock market behavior is influenced by politics.

REMINDER: New Hire Tax Credit

If you hired unemployed workers in 2010 and qualified for the FICA tax holiday, you may also qualify for a $1,000 tax credit on your 2011 tax return.  If you think you may be entitled to this, please contact your tax advisor.

The Veros Charitable Update

"LIVE LAUGH LEARN"

We are all aware of the dangers of texting while driving, especially as Indiana became the 32nd state to ban texting while behind the wheel as of last July.

However, that hit a little closer to home for two Veros team members when Jac-Cen-Del senior Emily Huntington, from Adam Decker and Ann Decker's home Ripley County, lost her life on December 30th.

To honor Emily, Veros has made a contribution to the "Live Laugh Learn" Memorial fund, which was one of Emily's favorite sayings and has since been set up as a safety campaign and scholarship fund.

As a reminder to all, please drive safely and don't text and drive.

Read more on her story here and how you can contribute to the memorial fund here.

Stay on Track

In an effort to stay on track with our own Tomorrow Plans, several of our team members here at Veros participate in activites outside of work and contribute to our community in various ways.  We'll be highlighting team members over the next several months.

This month's highlight is Lauren Mahan, our Client Service Director and Marketing Director.  Lauren currently serves as Chairperson on the Young Professionals Advisory Council (YPAC) for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.  YPAC was formed to create awareness for Make-A-Wish, network within each individual's social circles to recruit volunteers and do fundraising, and most importantly to promote the fundraising events in which they host each year, which include the Walk for Wishes, the Z99.5 Request-a-thon, and the Evening with the Stars gala, among others.

Her role as chairperson of this council is to lead meetings, help guide the council toward reaching their top goals as set by the foundation and the Board of Directors, manage the committee chairpersons, and meet with the foundation representatives to review progress -- not to mention her participation in all of the above metioned events!  Lauren also just recently went through wish granting training and is now able to be a part of the wish granting process, which includes being a liason between the foundation and the wish family by helping the child identify his or her wish and narrow down every little detail for it!

For more information on how to get involved, contact Lauren.
