Florida Senate Bill 584/HB 901

Companion Bills in both the Florida House and Senate to limit the amount of land that the state of Florida can own are in committee at this point and need our help to move them along.

SB 584 states:  A bill to be entitled
An act relating to the purchase of land by a governmental entity; limiting the state, a county, or  municipality’s ability to purchase land for conservation purposes; providing criteria; providing  an effective date.  You can read the bill here

Florida Forever and the other environmental extremists feel that 28% ownership of Florida's land is not enough. They have been calling the legislators to kill or alter bills SR 584 and HB 901.  It is imperative that you call. They want the budget to include billions of our tax dollars for their salaries and to steal or condemn our land.  Tell the legislators not to alter the bill.

Once out of private hands, Florida land is off the tax rolls.  Every time that happens, your taxes will go up until eventually your taxes will be too high and you will be forced to vacate your land.  Your community will lose land and a tax base without your approval.

This has nothing to do with conservation, it has to do with money power and control.  Don't be Fooled.
Isn't it time that unelected people STOP telling you what to do with your property?

Please call Senator Hays (850) 487-5011 and Rep. Charlie Stone (850) 717-5022 and thank them for sponsoring these bills.  SB 584 is in the Environmental Preservation Committee.  Contact Sen. Charlie Dean (850) 487-5005 and ask him to put this bill on the agenda to be heard in this committee.

March 14, 2013 Meeting Recap

We had a good meeting last Thursday.  Many thanks to the Oath Keepers who took their time to come over here and explain what their organization is all about.  We appreciate our local sheriffs coming to answer our questions.  While it seemed apparent that the three of them would be fairly strong on any gun control issues, it is also apparent that they need to hear from us on many issues facing us today.  We need to always remember, and remind others, that the Bill of Rights guarantees our God-given rights; and any infringement, even in the name of security or expediency, is a dangerous, slippery slope!

If anyone is interested in forming, or being a part of a local Oath Keepers chapter, please contact Mike Austell, OathKeeperFL@gmail.com

Our meetings are always informative; we are trying to keep our members up-to-date on local, state, and federal issues.  WE NEED HELP WITH THIS!  Any time you have information that needs to be passed on, and acted up by our members please send it to shiggins@windstream.net.  I will get it in an upcoming newsletter.  We always have information at our meetings that you can take and share with others.

The Tea Party has taken hits from both sides in recent months.  It is my belief that this is because they realize we are a power to be reckoned with;  that most of us stand for constitutionally- limited government along with fiscal responsibility.  If we were inconsequential, they would ignore us.

Please remember that many of our elected representatives of both parties do not want to limt government.  It takes away their so-called power over us.  We need to be vigilant in writing them and giving them our input.  We need to begin NOW to look for people to replace the ones we know are not doing the job they were elected to do (obeying the oath they took).  We need to remain a strong, active organization so that when we speak on an issue, they know we mean business!
