No Images? Click here Dear subscriber, Welcome to the latest Brexit Ezine. While there is still a lot of uncertainty around Brexit, there are things that you can do now that will help you to be ready for the changes that Brexit will bring to your business. If you operate equipment containing F-Gas or if you use wood packaging materials to transport your products then this latest FSAI Brexit Ezine has information for you - see below. For up-to-date information on Brexit, visit our website at www.fsai.ie/Brexit. Information for operators of equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-Gas)An important notice has been issued by the Government for operators of refrigeration, air conditioning, fire suppression and other equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-Gas). Personnel and companies working on such equipment (e.g. leak checking, installation, repairs/ servicing, decommissioning and gas recovery) are required by law to be certified by a certification body in an EU Member State. The legislation prohibits the employment of non-certified persons or companies to carry out activities requiring certification or attestation, and places a compliance obligation on the operators of the equipment. Many personnel and companies in the sector here are currently certified by UK bodies, such as City and Guilds (personnel) or Refcom and Quidos (companies). These UK F-Gas certifications will cease to be valid in Ireland or elsewhere in the EU in the event of a no deal Brexit. As part of the Irish government’s Brexit preparations, a recertification scheme has been established for both personnel and companies that carry out this work. To ensure compliance with legal requirements in a post no-deal Brexit, operators of these types of equipment should engage with their supply chain and contractors to ensure that personnel and companies working on the equipment are certified in Ireland or another EU Member State. The recertification process is straightforward, free of charge, and essential for those who are UK certified and wish to continue working with F-Gas in Ireland after a no deal Brexit. Further details available at the following link. An information seminar is taking place on Tuesday 1st October in Cavan. Visit Dept of Commmunications, Climate Action & Environment or email fgas@dccae.gov.ie ISPM No.15 and Wood Packaging Material requirements for products from the UKDo you use wood packaging materials when transporting your products? Wood Packaging Material including pallets, crates and dunnage, used in the transport of goods moving from Ireland to the UK does not currently need to meet ISPM No.15 requirements. In the event of a ‘no deal’ Brexit wood packaging materials from the United Kingdom into the EU-27 has to comply with a treatment and mark as specified in the FAO International Standard for Phytosanitary measures No 15 ('ISPM 15')”.
