Take The Time Petition Debate

The Take The Time petition calling on the NSW State Government to preserve the current shop and bank trading law protections was debated in the State Parliament yesterday. The petition had secured over 24,500 signatures, one of the largest petitions ever presented to the NSW Parliament.

This outstanding number of signatures was a clear signal to the NSW State Government on the importance of preserving time for family, friends, and community. The debate was well attended by supporters of the Take The Time campaign.

The Take the Time Coalition would like to thank all who signed the petition and made it possible for our voice to be heard in the NSW Parliament. Special thanks too go to John Robertson, Leader of the Opposition, as well as Guy Zangari, Member for Fairfield, who both spoke strongly on behalf of families and the community in the parliamentary debate.

However, the campaign continues as the proposed changes remain before the NSW Upper House. This means our public holidays and family time are still under threat. Until such time as the Government withdraws these proposed changes to existing laws, the Take The Time campaign will continue to press for a fair balance between work, family, and community time.
