Research Update

Good afternoon,

Linked below is the Import Export Report for November 2018.

Here are a few key findings:

  • Imported beer volume declined slightly for the second month in a row during November 2018.
  • Imports are now up 4.1% year-to-date through November, nearly a full point stronger than during the same period in 2017.
  • Imports from Mexico and Italy each grew double digits during November. These were the only two countries from among the top 10 import source countries to grow during the month.
  • Imported beer in aluminum cans grew at double-digit rates while bottle and draft imports declined in November, but all import packages are up year-to-date.
  • This report was originally scheduled for release on January 8th but was delayed due to the partial government shutdown. It's unclear when we will get December numbers.
