Happy New Year!
We hope 2012 is off to a great start for you. On the consumer protection front, there are several exciting developments to get the year going - we hope you can take part in one, or all of them!
Telephone Town Hall
We’ll be holding a telephone town hall tomorrow, January 5th at 6:30 p.m. Call-in to participate in a discussion about the ongoing foreclosure crisis in our community. We’ll be joined by special guests who will answer your questions live about what you can do to protect your house and neighborhood. It’s free and easy to participate. Call 503.236.6088 to RSVP, or register online.
Community Forum
The foreclosure crisis is the most widespread and broadly felt economic issue of our time. We must come together to bring an end to the epidemic that has affected all our communities. Join EFO and a panel of experts on January 11th in Hillsboro for a community meeting to learn how you can help win passage of strong homeowner protections and hear how Oregonians are already fighting foreclosures. We’ll also share details of legislation Oregon lawmakers will soon be considering and how you can have a voice in the process! Get all the information here.
Endorse a Foreclosure Fix
Next month, Oregon lawmakers will be debating a package of foreclosure relief bills. If you are a member of any community group, non-profit or local business please take a few moments to encourage lawmakers to push solving the foreclosure crisis to the top of their priority list. You can do this by downloading our endorsement form, or filling it out online here.
Legislative Days
Legislators will be back to work at the capitol from January 17-19, prioritizing their issues for the February session. Make sure your elected officials know you want them to address the foreclosure epidemic now by contacting them during legislative days and urging them to support strong foreclosure reform laws. Our consumer advocacy is funded by donations from the public. Please consider making a contribution to help us continue our work fighting for the financial rights of Oregonians!
