reTHINK the 2012 Election

Some pundits watching the 2012 U.S. presidential race say Obama’s campaign has a lot in common with Harry Truman’s 1948 campaign. But while Obama and Truman have both complained of a “do nothing” Congress, the economic, foreign affairs and social issues of today vastly differ from those in Truman’s time.

So says David Pietrusza, a presidential historian and author who will speak on “Rethinking the 2012 Election: Is Obama Following the Harry Truman Model?” Oct. 1 from 6-7 p.m. in Ekstrom Library’s Chao Auditorium. Join us for this free, public lecture.

Copies of David Pietrusza's book,
1948: Harry Truman's Improbable Victory and the Year That Transformed America,
will be available for purchase at the event at a discounted price.
