In full bloom
Cloth: Seeds to Bloom on now until 20 August
Earlier this month, we opened our latest exhibition Cloth: Seeds to Bloom. The exhibition celebrates 20 years of textile designer Julie Paterson and has filled our gallery with beautiful colour and texture.
On 10 August, Julie will be joined by our Director Steven Pozel for an artist talk where together they'll explore the stories she has shared in her new book ClothBound. Tickets are free (and going fast) so don't forget to RSVP.
Julie has been the State Library of New South Wales' artist-in-residence this month, where she's been creating a brand new piece inspired by the Library's collection for their current exhibition. Drop by the Macquarie Room at the Library to say hi, or check out her Instagram where she's been sharing her works in progress.

What's been happening
Events at the Australian Design Centre
Since moving in, we’ve been playing host to some fantastic events with our friends, with plenty more in the pipelines.
We’re excited to be able to share a unique new venue for exciting events, talks, and workshops with Sydney’s creative community. If you’re on the hunt for a location for your next event – drop us a line.
The School of Life Melbourne held a Sydney pop-up over 4 days, treating us to eye-opening classes on everything from the psychology and philosophy of conversation to techniques for being more creative. The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects
(AILA) held a showcase of the 48 submissions ahead of their annual awards in September. And coming up in August, design100 will bring together Sydney’s design community on 12 August for the 2015 Sydney Design Awards.

On tour
Our programs around the country
As always, we remain busy around Australia with our touring exhibitions CUSP: Designing into the Next Decade, Lola Greeno: Cultural Jewels, and Resolved: Journeys in Australian Design continuing to make their way around the country.
We caught up with Simon Ancher, head of UTAS’s Furniture Design program, for our latest local insights interview during CUSP's showing at Queen Victoria Museum & Art Gallery. Stay tuned for the full interview shot in Simon’s (very beautiful but very chilly) studio soon!
Lola Greeno: Cultural Jewels has just opened at Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery. The team at the Gallery organised a fantastic first day of public programs with a necklace-making workshop run by Lola. Visit the Gallery’s Facebook page for some great snaps of the results!
Meanwhile, Resolved is set to make its Western Australian debut next month at the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries. Presented in partnership with WORKSHOPPED, designer Adam Cornish
will lead a hands-on workshop with school children on the first day of the exhibition – we can’t wait to see what they come up with!

Future Nature
27 August – 16 October
Design duo Eggpicnic have been our inuagural designers-in-residence at William Street.
Splitting their time between our Centre and the Australian Museum’s collections and archives, they've been busy researching, experimenting, prototyping and testing ahead of the opening of our next exhibition Future Nature on 27 August.
Inspired by the Australian Museum's living collection, Future Nature will explore the places where art, design and science collide.
Visit Eggpicnic's website to see more of their colourful and intricate objects and illustrations that playfully communicate socially conscious ideas and stories...
