The National Press Foundation celebrates the best of journalism with its annual awards, which carry $48,000 in total prize money. These prestigious and highly coveted awards are open to journalists across the media spectrum. Award winners will be honored at our annual awards dinner on Feb. 17, 2017.

Fellowships to Wharton Seminars for Business Journalists 

Seminar dates: Oct. 8-11, 2016

Each year, the National Press Foundation offers two all-expense-paid fellowships for the annual Wharton Seminars for Business Journalists, at the University of Pennsylvania. The fellowships include full tuition, housing, most meals and round-trip transportation. U.S.-based journalists whose work represents the highest standards of business journalism are eligible to apply.

The seminars offer participants an opportunity to expand their knowledge of business by attending courses conducted by leading Wharton faculty; hearing guest lectures by business leaders; and competing in an intensive, computer-simulated strategic management exercise.

NPF is looking for a digital media manager

Our talented digital media director, Reyna Levine, is relocating to Chicago. She has been a key member of our staff since joining NPF in June 2013. Her excellent graphic design, video, audio and photography skills have been essential to producing NPF content and she will be greatly missed. 

NPF is seeking a digital media manager to assist the foundation with directing and producing effective digital educational content for journalists in the US and around the world.

Requirements: bachelor’s degree; significant experience shooting and editing; extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud software; experience with live switching cameras in a broadcast setting; basic knowledge of HTML and CSS; detailed knowledge of WordPress; and excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of journalism industry and of AP style a plus.

NPF welcomes Shanghai journalists

NPF welcomed 20 Shanghai journalists to our Washington, D.C. office Aug. 17. We explained our mission, our fellowships and the topics we cover. We discussed how to cover terrorist attacks, how to use virtual reality in journalism and using social media as an effective tool for finding and sharing news. NPF took 10 American journalists to Shanghai in November 2014 to learn about business and finance.
