Feb 09 | 2:00 PM CST | 60 Minutes | Ally Financial Web Series: Banking LISC and Ally Financial invite you to participate in a series of webinars preparing you to avoid common financial problems associated with holiday spending and planning for a strong 2021 New Year. Led by experts and practitioners, these webinars are designed for frontline staff and program managers interested in learning tools and tips to share with clients to increase their financial security. This webinar will focus on how to work with financial institutions to manage personal finances. FOC Spotlight: Twin Accounts™ To support financial coaches to bring clients along the road to self-sufficiency, LISC developed Twin Accounts™, an innovative financial product that uses behavioral economics principles to promote savings and credit-building among low- to middle-income Americans. Participants can build and improve their credit score and therefore access lower-cost financial products. Twin Accounts™ combines the incentives provided in an Individual Development Account (IDA) with credit building to achieve a high level of impact on an individual’s financial bottom line. Check out this report that compares the outcomes of Twin Accounts™ borrowers with other, statistically-matched, clients of LISC-supported Financial Opportunity Center® partners who did not open such accounts to find out whether their scores, in fact, improved. For FOCs that worked with Justine Peterson, please complete this form if you would like to offer Twin Accounts to clients in 2021. Digital InclusionThe coronavirus pandemic has exacerbated existing digital literacy and technology equipment gaps, with schools moving to online instruction, adult learners now needing to access testing and training remotely, and increased barriers to systems (such as state unemployment agencies) that either require or strongly encourage accessing services online due to limited staffing and long wait times for service by phone. Many of the families served by LISC FOCs lack both the digital skills and the necessary hardware to participate in essential virtual services—and in the longer-term, to connect to stable, living-wage job opportunities that require solid digital skills. On the ground, FOC partners are working hard to close this digital skills/access gap. With that being said, LISC has worked to build out new fields in Salesforce to better capture data on digital skills training and navigation. We have defined digital skills training and navigation as, “An activity to build digital literacy skills and/or foundational skills needed to use and operate devices, communication applications, and networks to access and manage information. This includes one-on-one coaching to teach specific skills, digital literacy workshops or education, or support navigating a technology such as a computer, database system, or online application.” Updates to the Family Financial Tracking™ template in Salesforce include: 1. New required field on ALL Service entry types (Employment, Financial, & Income Supports) - “Digital skills training/navigation” (Yes/ No). This field will capture the number of people that received 1:1 digital skills training or navigation within each service area. 2. New “Type of exam” equal to “Digital Literacy” in the “Exams” topic of the Employment counseling service entry. This will collect any skills gains from digital training assessments via platforms such as NorthStar Digital Learn or the Accenture Learning Exchange. 3. New Work/Education Support type - “Received Lending Library Technology” - This will capture people accessing loaner devices through a lending library. 4. Expansion to existing Digital Literacy lines in the FFT performance report.
