MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

SPRING'S JUST AROUND THE CORNER

BUY A BALE AND HELP OUR FARMERS

AHA staff and our members and partners throughout the livestock industries are raising money to buy and ship feed to farmers in need. Every dollar we raise will go towards buying a bale of hay, water and food hampers and delivering these to drought-affected farmers. Find out more below.

CONFERENCES
August was a busy month for AHA with staff attending a number of conferences either as an exhibitor or delegate. Some of these include LambEx, the Australian Alpaca Spectacular, Australian Prawn Farmers Association Symposium and AgCatalyst. We're loving these opportunities to get out and engage with producers face-to-face and look forward to meeting many more of you over the year.

I hope you enjoy reading this month's edition of Animal Health Express.

Buy a bale and help our farmers!

Currently, New South Wales and Queensland are going through the worst drought in 100 years. In NSW alone up to 90% of the state is in drought. Often farmers will go without food themselves so they can continue to feed their animals, however some are being forced to destock as they do not have the feed or money to keep going.

No one wants to admit things are tough, and farmers are some of the proudest people in Australia. But sometimes they need our help - now is one of those times. Our aim is to raise $9,500 which will supply a semi-trailer loaded with hay and transport it up to 900km to an affected area.

Every dollar counts so we need your help!

One Biosecurity - Roger Paskin

One Biosecurity (1B) is South Australia’s new farm biosecurity management program that allows livestock producers to register, manage, and promote their farm biosecurity plans online. It is voluntary, but ALL of South Australia’s sheep, beef cattle and dairy cattle producers should register to benefit from this new biosecurity tool.

Primary Industry and Regions SA Chief Veterinary Officer Roger Paskin tells us why One Biosecurity will be so important to the South Australian sector.
