CPC called on the Mayoral Administration and the City Council to make critical investments to address the persistent and emerging needs of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Family Child Care Providers and Early Childhood Champions Honored at CPC's Queens Community CenterOn March 30th, CPC’s Asian Child Care Resource and Referral (ACCR) held a fun-filled and informative luncheon and awards ceremony for the appreciation of family child care & early childhood champions at CPC’s Queens Community Center. A total of 53 licensed family child care (FCC) providers attended the event. Adult Literacy Classes Visit the Educational Theater of New YorkCPC’s Adult Literacy Program visited the Educational Theater of New York on April 2nd and watched "The Open Window" and "The Necklace", two plays adapted and directed by Barbara Bregstein. CPC Celebrates Conclusion of Queens Naming CampaignCPC celebrated the completion of its Queens Naming Campaign at a reception on Monday, April 8th at CPC Queens Community Center having raised $1.2 million in private funding. CPC Statement on the NYC FY2020 Executive Budget CPC acknowledges Mayor de Blasio for his $92.5 billion FY 2020 Executive Budget that makes some key steps toward building a fair and equitable city. We urge both the Mayoral Administration and City Council to continue to work to ensure that immigrants, people of color, and low-income New Yorkers will be included fairly in the adopted budget. CPC and Subsidiary Welcome New Board Members and OfficerCPC is excited to announce the elections of Li Yan Chen and Michael Lee to CPC's Board of Directors as well as Flora Si as the Chair of its subsidiary, CPC Home Attendant Program (CPCHAP). Workshop at Chinatown Senior Center Focuses on Pedestrian Safety and Phone Scam PreventionNYPD officers and a specialist from NYC's Department of Transportation held an educational workshop for 200 seniors on pedestrian safety and how to prevent phone scams on April 10th. Children from Chrystie Street Afterschool Program Tour Local FDNY StationsElementary children from CPC's Chrystie Street SACC visited two local FDNY stations to learn about fire safety and the important work that firefighters do. The station tours were made possible by DYCD Commissioner Bill Chong, who accompanied the children at the 75 Canal St. station, home of the Chinatown Dragonfighters. On View: CPC Brooklyn Seniors Photo Exhibition CPC Brooklyn Community Services is currently holding our first photo exhibition titled "Happy Life." The show will run until May 8th on the 5th floor of the Brooklyn Community Center. Visitors may vote on their five favorite photos. Education Resource FairCPC Brooklyn Community Services in partnership with A-Plus Academy and Academic Approach will be hosting an Education Resource Fair on Saturday May 11th, 11AM at P.S. 310K, located 942 62nd Street, Brooklyn NY 11219. Our annual Education Resource Fair is dedicated to bringing education resources to community members of all age groups and backgrounds and this year will be no different.
