Research Update

Good afternoon,

Linked below is the September 2017 State-by-State Shipments to Wholesalers Report. Please note changes to historical volumes as some state totals may have changed with newly released state-level data.

Below are some key points from the report:

  • Beer shipment volume declined 4.0% during September 2017, which had one fewer selling day compared to September 2016.
  • On a selling-day adjusted basis, beer shipment volume increased by 0.6% in September.
  • In general, temperatures were much milder during September 2017 than during September 2016, particularly in the Southeast, and these cooler temperatures contributed significantly to September’s declines in domestic shipment volume.
  • Volume trends in several states were also affected by the timing of this year’s general price increase.
