Hi friend,
A huge welcome to our very first issue of The Loop! It’s an email update that will inform you of the wonderful things that are happening in TSCF groups around the country. Our hope is that we will be able to encourage you to pray for one another, to share your stories and ideas, and to connect with your brothers and sisters who are your co-workers in this ministry.
We’re sending this email to those of you who have already signed up - please
forward this
to all your friends – so that they can sign up to be kept in The Loop too.
For some of you, you might be thinking ‘TSCF?.. What’s that?!’ Well, be encouraged that your campus group (be it Christian Union, Christian Fellowship, International or Overseas Christian Fellowship – or something else!) is a part of a much wider organisation of Christian students all around New Zealand called Tertiary Students’ Christian Fellowship. Each of our groups are different, but we are united by our passion: reaching students for Christ, and changing students for life!
We haven’t introduced ourselves properly yet! We are the elected student coordinators for 2010. Phil is a Physics graduate from Wellington and is in his second year of MINTY (TSCF’s Ministry Internship). He has been working with Victoria CU in Wellington. As for Peng, he’s been a part of TSCF as a student for the past five years serving as a student leader. He is currently finishing off his Masters in Architecture in Wellington and is passionate about applying the gospel to the workplace. TSCF is committed to student leadership, and both Phil and Peng, as student coordinators, are responsible for representing students on the TSCF National Board.
We’ve been hearing some great stories from your O-weeks and Easter events, as well as what has been happening in between times. This year we have already seen people coming to know Jesus, and committing their lives to follow Him. Across New Zealand, students are meeting together, digging into the Bible, and growing in their faith as the living God is at work in their hearts – what a joy and privilege to be involved in this work! You can read stories of what has been happening around the country on the TSCF website.
Exams are nearly over for those of us who have had them, and we hope they have gone well for you. What better way to spend your mid-year break than by coming to TSCF’s National Conference? You'll meet students from all over New Zealand, worship, pray and learn together. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘This is Jesus’ – we’ll be taking a good look at who Jesus really is as described in God’s Word, getting rid of some of the myths and stereotypes, getting to know the REAL Jesus better, and getting equipped to tell our friends about Him. You can get more information and rego forms from your group, staff worker or download it
here – don’t miss this great opportunity!
