On November 6th, CPC organized the first ever Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Reception at the Somos El Futuro Conference! Held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the conference aims to unite Latinx communities to make transformative impacts on socio-economic and civic statuses across New York State and beyond. Somos brings together 800 city, state, and federal elected officials as well as nonprofit, corporate, union, and government leaders.

Chinatown Receives $20 Million from New York State

On November 10th, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that Chinatown will receive $20 million in funding as the New York City Region winner of the fifth round of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI). Chinatown's successful proposal was a collaborative effort by Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC), Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE), Asian American Federation, Chinatown Manpower Project, Chinatown Partnership/Chinatown BID, Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association, Chung Pak LDC, and Think Chinatown.

CPC Hong Ning Residents Receive Booster Vaccine Dose

On December 2nd, more than 130 residents of Hong Ning Housing for the Elderly received their booster vaccine. The vaccine, screening, and observation was provided on site so residents did not have to travel.  We fully appreciate the collaboration with Mannings Pharmacy, and we also thank and recognize TUC Management for setting this up!

For the month of November, CPC participated in a global campaign called Giving Tuesday with #BrooklynGives. #BrooklynGives is powered by the Brooklyn Community Foundation and aims to unite nonprofits in support of social change on Giving Tuesday, the biggest single day of giving each year.

Free Construction Training Program - Registration Open
CPC Career Center is accepting applications for the November 2021 session of BuildingWorks' FREE training program. This is a 6-week class that will prepare individuals for a career as a Union Carpenter. The next class will begin on November 8 and end on December 17. Classes meet Monday thru Friday from 7:30 AM to 4 PM. Classes will be conducted in-person in Lower Manhattan, with some classes held virtually.
