An update on the Woolston Village UpgradeKia ora from Woolston Village Upgrade team. Our roading team are making good progress along the south side of Ferry Road. We've had another team start work outside Physio NZ, which will help our work go faster. This team will steadily work their way east towards Lee’s Barber Shop. Ferry Road works moving southWorks are progressing well on the south side of Ferry Road between 642 and 672 Ferry Road. We’ve managed to do a lot of work while keeping the entrance to Maronan Street open, but have needed to close it temporarily to finish the drainage work outside the SPCA shop and to lay some cables for the new traffic lights. Holiday shut-down periodContractors will hit pause on the Woolston Village upgrade works roadworks for four weeks starting from the beginning of December. Woolston Tavern demolitionDemolition work has started on the old Woolston Tavern. The contractors, FWL, are doing most of this work at night to minimise their impact on traffic. Key features of the upgradeWe’re upgrading Woolston Village and part of Ferry Road. This will make the village a safer and more attractive place to walk, bike and drive. We’re renewing underground wastewater pipes at the same time to minimise disruption to the public. A place to parkThere will be 55 on-street car park spaces on this section of Ferry Road plus time-restricted parking to allow for higher turnover. A place for walkingWider footpaths and improved crossing facilities in the village, including signal controlled crossings & upgraded street lighting. Lower speed limitsThe speed limit has been lowered to 30km/h on Ferry Road between Portman Street and St Anne’s School.
