Highlight: National Cancer Institute's National Graduate Student Recruitment Program


Applications are currently being accepted for the National Cancer Institute’s Graduate Student Recruiting Program (GSRP).  This Program is a competitive program that aims to facilitate senior graduate students obtaining postdoc positions at NCI. The top 25 applicants are invited to NCI, and over the course of three days the attendees will learn about research programs and training opportunities, present their work at poster sessions, and interview with principal investigators (scheduled prior to arriving at the NIH).

In order to be eligible, you must be enrolled in a PhD program in the United States and on schedule to complete your PhD requirements by December 1, 2017. The GSRP is open to U.S. citizens and foreign nationals. Please visit here for more information about the program. January Dissertation Writing Retreat
Advanced PhD students are invited to apply now to participate in a Dissertation Writing Retreat in January 2017. The writing-intensive retreat, to be held January 9-13, will provide 16 participants with space, time and encouragement to make progress on their dissertations. Stacy Kastner, Associate Director of the Writing Center, will lead the retreat, which pools the resources and support of the Graduate School, Sheridan Center and Libraries. Postdoc Opportunity

Novartis Postdoctoral Fellow - Cambridge, MA

Novartis is currently seeking highly motivated candidates for a postdoctoral position to study the interaction between the commensal microbiota and the intestinal innate immune system. The project will focus on mechanistic investigations into how the mucosal immune system detects the presence of commensal bacteria and differentiates them from pathogens.

Qualifications sought include a PhD or MD/PhD in immunology, cell biology, or molecular biology (microbiome/ microbiology expertise would be an asset); a strong publication record in high-impact journals; self-motivated, be able to work independently, and as part of a dynamic team; excellent oral and written communication skills. Career Position

Senior Research Scientist - Northeastern University - Boston, MA

This position was developed to conduct, develop, and maintain original organic synthesis in the development of solid state photochemistry for enzymes and receptors related to the endocannabinoid signaling system. The research will require the preparation of required starting materials, as well as the usual physical-organic studies, including the skillful isolation, purification and characterization of the compounds that are made. In addition, he/she will have budget management responsibility; participate in external professional activities (i.e. publication of research, attendance/participation in professional conferences) and exercise functional and administrative management over supporting research staff.

Must have a PhD or equivalent; experience which includes progressively more responsible, independent research work evidenced by publications, inventions, or equivalent efforts; demonstrated project management experience, including supervisory, budgetary and general administrative skills.
