The Chinese connection
|
|
Collaborations between NZSM and the Confucius Institute at Victoria University have resulted in some wonderful occasions in which musicians and academics have shared ideas and cultural perspectives and conventions.
The virtuoso guqin performer Wu Na is performing this weekend in a special concert (Saturday 18, Adam Concert Room, 6:30pm) but she is also an integral part of a much more elaborate performance on Wednesday 22 October.
Gao Shan Liu Shui (High Mountain Flowing Water) brings together Wu Na and pianist and composer Gao Ping – each masters in their chosen instruments. These musical contemporaries join forces with Kunqu opera star Dong Fei, visual designer Jon He and acclaimed director Sara Brodie, to bring to life the shared spirit of understanding that is Gao Shan Liu Shui.
Wednesday 22 October, 7:00pm
NZSM Concert Hall, Mt Cook Campus
Block 1, Massey University (through Entrance C)
Adults $20 / Students (with id) $10
