Foam Roll Your Way to a Better Swing!

By: Dave Phillips
Titleist Performance Institute

Foam rolling is a technique that many PGA Tour players use to prepare their bodies to practice or play. Over time, we all develop restrictions in the connective tissue known as fascia that lies between the muscles and the skin.  These restrictions can be the result of injury, disease, inflammation, inactivity or just simply the act of going through life. These restrictions can cause a loss of mobility, which in turn can lead to a myriad of swing issues.

Take a look at this recent video by TPI Advisory Board Member, Robert Yang where he gives a detailed demonstration of the proper foam rolling technique.

Now a NG360 Nike Golf Performance Specialist!

We are pleased to announce that Chris Cooper is now a NG360 Nike Golf Performance Specialist!

ABOUT THE NG360 NIKE GOLF PEFORMANCE PROGRAM:

Your body is your greatest asset on the golf course.  However, the game of golf can be detrimental to the body and especially the spine.  The average golf swing can cause up to eight times the compressive force that a normal spine can handle.  Multiply that by the number of rounds played per week, and that can add up to loss of distance and accuracy or even injury.

The Nike Golf NG360° Performance Program will assist your performance specialist in identifying the physical limitations that may be causing you pain or affecting your accuracy, power or distance.

The NG360° Functional Performance System (FPS) is the component of the Nike Golf NG360° program that focuses on golfers and their bodies.  After two years of development, Nike Golf and its partner, the Gray Institute, have developed a specific performance based program for golf.

As a participant in the Nike Golf NG360° Performance Program, you will receive a one-on-one evaluation in which your strength, flexibility, range of motion, balance and muscular endurance will be assessed.  A personalized golf-specific performance program will be developed based on the findings of the evaluation. A performance plan including follow-up training sessions will be discussed to meet the goals of the golfer.
