WSU is upgrading its emergency notification capacity

In order to ensure you receive emergency notifications regarding critical events occurring on campus, visit ZZUSIS to complete or update your emergency notification registration. Beginning Nov. 18, all visitors to ZZUSIS will be required to make a selection regarding emergency notifications. This change is being implemented to enhance existing capacity to effectively notify the WSU community in the event of an emergency.

Placement of sharps containers in restrooms reduce health hazards on campus

Sharps container

Facilities Operations has recently installed sharps containers in each building on campus, excluding the Clark College building, for the safe and legal disposal of used needles. Containers are present in the first floor restrooms of all buildings except the McClaskey Building, where they are placed in the second floor restrooms. The purpose of these containers is to eliminate the health and safety hazard to personnel that handle the disposal of trash and to the general public that might otherwise come into contact with improperly discarded needles.

These containers are for hazardous or infectious wastes only and no one should attempt to reach into one of these containers for any reason.

The containers will be monitored regularly and removed as necessary. Reports of full containers can be sent to Facility Operations at 360-546-9000. Questions regarding this program should be directed to Kevin Crowley, industrial hygienist, at 6-9706, or via email.
