5th Grade eNews

It’s hard to believe we have just one more week until Christmas break!  Let’s finish the semester strong!

Academics

  • Bible: Christmas
  • Verse: “The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.  He has sent Me to proclaim freedom to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”   Luke 4:18-19
  • Reading: Review Theme; Skill test on Theme on Wednesday, December 16th
  • Spelling: Latin Root: miss/mit  “to send”; Prefix: per “through or completely” Ex. missionary; permit; permission
  • Language: Finish Chapter 7; Ch. 7 test on Wednesday, December 16th (direct objects, verb-transitive; Pattern 2; regular/irregular verbs; helping verb tenses)
  • Math: practice with fractions; story problem review; greater than/less than
  • Science: Continue Chapter 4: Heat and Energy
  • Social Studies: Continue Ch. 16: Changes in Counterculture

Important Dates & Information

  • December 18th - bring $1 to wear Christmas sweaters/sweatshirts - money goes toward our goal of buying 5 goats for Baptist Global Relief
  • December 18th - Class parties @ 12:15 (Unfortunately due to the current circumstances, parents are not allowed to attend.) NO EXTENDED CARE on this day; Bus will leave for PH at 1:00; 1st-5th grade teachers will walk students to car line at 12:45.
  • December 19th-January 3rd  CHRISTMAS BREAK
  • February 12th - Valentine Parties (this is a calendar change)
  • February 15th - NO SCHOOL
